Fire Cupping Therapy
What Is Fire Cupping?
Fire Cupping is a Traditional Chinese Medicine modality that has many therapuetic benefits. During the treament, glass cups are placed over the skin to create a suction through negative pressure. To achieve this, we apply a flame to the inside of the glass cup, removing any oxygen. This creates a suction through the lifting of the skin into the cup. The cups are placed on certain body areas or meridian pathways to stimulate bloodflow, activate the lymphatic system, alleviate pain, and remove blockages, toxins, and fluid build up.
What is the Difference Between Static and Slide Cupping?
Static Cupping involves placing cups on the skin and leaving them in a fixed position. This method helps to draw blood to a specific area, reducing muscle tension and relieving localized pain.
Slide Cupping, a more dynamic technique, involves moving the cups over the skin after applying a small amount of oil or lotion. This creates a sliding or gliding effect, helping to stimulate lymph and blood flow, improve circulation, and deliver fresh, oxygenated blood and nutrients to tissues. Slide cupping is particularly beneficial for lymphatic drainage because it stimulates fluid movement through the lymphatic system, reducing swelling and aiding in detoxification.
What Are The Benefits?
Cupping therapy may help to eliminate toxins and waste from the cells, remove stagnation and blockages in the body, and stimulate the free flow of Qi (vital energy) by opening up meridians pathways in the body. According to modern research, cupping therapy has been shown to activate the lymphatic system and boost overall health.
